Higher nutrition training in Europe: towards the establishment of a database

A survey of higher training in nutrition in Europe was conducted in 1989. Replies came from 57 institutions in 22 of the 31 WHO member countries, reporting in 69

courses. Only 33 of the reported courses awarded an MSc, PhD or diploma, in addition ten awarded BSc, five trained dietitians or clinical nutritionists and two courses gave the title of bio-engineer and food technologist. Thus 69% of the courses reported trained nutritionists for a diploma, BSc or higher degree.

Higher training in nutrition in Europe is dominated by female students. Only in Greece were there equal numbers of female and male students. The proportion of male students did however increase in PhD courses compared to MSc and diploma courses.

There are differences in duration of similar types of courses. Duration of a diploma course can wuy from eight weeks to four years, MSc from one to five years and a PhD from three to four years. Very few students complete PhDs in nutrition. The majority stop their training at BSc, MSc or diploma level A strengthening of higher nutrition training in Europe as part of a health promotion strategy is called for.

at the old gym nate campbell was there most everyday. had tarver come in to hurricanes several times as has mosley and rjj. ike quartey trained for his fight with winky there. chevelle hallback and another really good girl fighter dont remember her name were regulars. winky came in a few times a month to spar mostly with nate, sometimes with me.

James Toney used to train at my gym, also Israel Vasquez, and some dude with a stache I just wanna shave off, his name is Manny Pacquiao and is coached by some stutterin' dude, named Freddie. Also this guy that was a former heavyweight champion named Michael Moorer. They're pros, but have any of you heard their names before?
