Check your shoes. Inadequate sneakers for running can cause a multitude of problems to the entire body not just your feet or legs. Another thing to check is if you are running properly. There is running, and then there is running properly. I also had shin splints and lower back pain till I found myself some adequate sneakers for my* feet. Note I said my* and would not recommend my sneaker selection to another person because we all have different needs and requirements. I also read up on proper running technique and that solved all my problems. Hope this helps. Stay up.

For shin splints, best thing is to rest when they start to hurt. Shin splints are micro fractures on your shin bone. They heal quick and once they heal they should be stronger. I used to get them all the time when I first started running, but they went away.
Good part to stretch for lower back are hamstrings and hips. you can stretch the hips very nicely by sitting your legs in a s position and stretch each side. don't stretch while you are cold though. you can get a much better stretch if you're warmed up not to mention not damaging any muscle fibers.
