sparring isn't practiced to hurt/cut the opponent, which is what those gloves do. if you want to spar, ask for a pair of SPARRING GLOVES in the gym
and yeah, those gloves won't last you 2-3 years. if you must buy them, use them just for the bag/mitts
if you want sparring, these are a much better option in your same price range:
EDIT: NEVER buy the cheap products of everlast. they last about 3-6 months and are the ****tiest of the low price range products. they're pretty decent at $90+, but if you're budget is 30-40, buy title gear in genuine leather, which always lasts longer and don't hurt the other person so muchLast edited by fdotorres; 09-25-2009, 12:40 AM.

man almost every gym i go to has people that wear those gloves, they wear them for both bags/pads as well as sparring.
in a perfect world, all my partners would have 2 pairs of gloves - one for bags, one for sparring and our sparring gloves would be something nice and cushy like ringside ultimate classics.
unfortunately in the real world, i usually have to get some gloves with some pop just to keep dudes off of me. that's why I love grants, they're not total bricks so I can go easy and keep my partners healthy most of the time, but if they start trying to take me out, i can dish out a lil payback. on tuesday guy gave me what looks like a non-bleeding papercut on my eyelid with some of those nEverlasts. one of the only times i've ever been cut by a boxing glove. almost knocked him out with a hook though, so it's all good.
