The rate at my gym is 89$ CAD a month, less if you take longer a membership. But this gives you access to the gym 9 to 9 every day, and every class with all the trainers. So it's pretty cheap considering we have 2 boxing trainers, a muay thai trainer, and 2 bjj trainers, which all have they own classes at different times.

J.Dempsey why would they not accept you for casual traning for being over 30?
Basically gym is already packed and they're after boxers that'll want to go proper amateur or pro. No space for the casual boxer I guess

    Where do you live?

I think this is the case for most boxing gyms unless you're obviously willing to pay extra for personal training.

Boxing coaches are all after the next "guy" to make it big. They're not going to waste their time with you if you have no future plans if you're not shelling out cash.

Then go in there with a fire and prove them wrong about you. You may just be casual into the sport but that doesn't mean you can't go hard when you lace them up. I am a casual basketball player, I never played at any level in school, all I have is playground experience, but when I go out with the boys to play any kind of sport you can bet I will be competitive, whether it's futbol, basketball, catch, anything, I am going to be competitive and play to win. I am going to slide into you hard, I am going to post you up with all I have, I don't have to be going down the path of a pro to do it.

I was written off the first day I ever walked in the gym, the trainer thought I was too soft, weak, slow, the first day. I worked on my own every day for two weeks hard and came back and impressed him so much he renewed his interest and hope for me, and I never looked back since. Now, I am not an accomplished fighter or anything, I have never considered the pro route, I have had other career focuses in mind, but that's just an example of how it's on you to make a name for yourself and prove your worth at any level, you may not want to go amateur or pro but you can show you are a solid student and might get the same attention as everyone else and fit right in.

I am too old to be a prospect now but I get respect in my gym and will give anyone trouble who spars me within reason, and I get called to work with younger guys who look promising that are starting out because I present a challenge, I won't be anything other than an amateur but that doesn't change my love or passion for the sport.
