    Footwork help!!!

I have really bad footwork and agility. I just started this morning, and my coach admitted this. He put me on the agility ladder, and my feet felt lighter, my footwork was more balanced. So I have some questions:

    1. If I continue to do agility ladder to improve my coordination, could this lead to improved balance, better head movement and better Footwork?

    2. He suggested shadow boxing with a resistance band around my feet to keep my feet at ideal spacing so they are not too far apart. Would this actually help me with that or waste of time?

And also, how does the agility ladder help in boxing?

Sounds like your coach is going to help you develop good footwork. Be diligent, and patient. People who second guess their coaches a lot tend to not make much progress. They're just making up excuses not to put in the work. Don't extend your legs too wide or 'reach' for punches. Pay attention to where your head and shoulders are in relation to your feet and don't lean forward.

Like Redd said, listen to your coach. That second exercise is great because it keeps you from both bringing your feet too close together and spreading them too far apart

other things you may consider....Jump rope is good for building leg endurance, quickness and balance for overall better foot work. This will help you learn to use the balls of the feet more...like normally you should always push off or land on the ball of the foot, not the heel.
Shoes can also make a difference. A good boxing shoe will put your foot in close contact with the mat and have greater sensitivity and feed back for that critical interface.

          1. not really, i believe.
          2. yes, this would actually help

it sets boundaries for a bunch of exercises (like this: ), which allow to improve coordination..
