"LA Noire" reported it can overheat and turn of PS3 console

I was playing it on my ps3 for about 4 hours into the game, and my ps3 did shut down. I can confirm its true, but my friends have no problem atm >.<

Fight Night Champion does that too. Had to stop playing it. I wanted to trade it in for LA Noire, but now I'll think twice about that.

I normally buy most of my multiplatform games on my xbox 360, but I only got it for the Ps3 because it simply came with 1 disc. I wonder if I would encounter same problem with the 360 with LA Noire.

But my FNC did have a problem with watching a movie clip on Andre Bishop vs his brother. Later on I found out that EA Sports literally sold game disc with problems >.<
so I simply had to skip the movie clip which was probably one of the exciting movie clips through the game.

Has this happened to anyone else playing a different game?

I only play for 30 minutes-1 hour, and this has never happen to me. Maybe it's time to reduce your playing hours?.

You do know that this problem is not just on PS3 right? It is also on the XBOX...Meaning, it is a problem with the game, not the systems.

Also, this is nothing new in gaming. Some games can hold tons of info, and cause the system to work harder. It happens.

Also, I have yet to have a problem with my PS3 Slim. Not a problem at all, with any game (knock on wood).

this happens any time any new big game comes out. "so and so is breaking ps3/xbox's!!!"

it's cuz your **** is old, dirty, etc. and it just overheats. It would happen eventually no matter what game it is.

anyways, LA Noire is dope. Played about 10-12 hours already, very addicting.

Honestly, is it on par with GTA4 and Red Dead Redemption?

totally different and they can't be compared.

LA Noire is a lineal game. It's not really open world in the sense that you can just do whatever you want, whatever missions at whatever time.

There is a great story in LA Noire and like I said it's lineal, so you finish one case and move on to the next (there are side missions though).

I love this game. It's refreshing to play a game different from everything else. You spend a lot of time searching for clues, interrogating people and trying to solve crimes. I think it's great and I get a lot of enjoyment out of figuring out murder cases, etc.

But if you're wanting to play a GTA type game where you can just run around and kill people randomly you'll be disappointed. It isn't a game like that. You're a cop so you can't do that in this game. I got worried when I first got it I would just want to run around and shoot people but the game keeps you busy and interested enough to where you don't even think about it.

So far I give the game an 8.5/10. I'm about halfway done with it.

I honestly don't play games for longer then about 1 & a half to 2 hours tops. LA Noir is a masterpiece though, Rockstar has done it again, except this time it isn't an open world shooter but an investigation/story driven title.
