Why is the common misconception of Video Games being immature so prevalent?

I look at Video Games as an Artform.

When you experience a Masterpiece like Metal Gear Solid 3 and 4, The Last of Us, Halo, Shadow of the Colossus, and ICO, and you master it to the point of understanding, it is no different than any other artform. An art form is anything that can reach out and touch the human soul.

I don't know. Video games tell stories every bit as good as any other form of media. I don't think that mindset is that prevalent anymore.

      That's a mindset I haven't heard since the early 90's.

These days at least half the gaming population are working professionals, usually in the IT industry like myself. At least when it comes to PC games/mmos.

console gaming is still more of a kids environment, though I am all about esports in first person shooters.

I find games fascinating and a great way to save money and something to do at home when I am not watching sports, working, working out, or with a lady friend.

i love video games but they are kind of immature. nothing wrong with that though, maintaining an interest in the things you liked as a kid is a great thing since its hard to keep finding new interests.

dont get me wrong, you cant have exactly the same interests your whole life. you have to change in some areas, but not all of them. to keep some pieces of your childhood is more important to your overall happiness than most people realize imo.
