I wonder if there was more going on behind the scenes with Mason Mount. Because the narrative when he moved was that he was a disloyal mercenary.

Could have a terrible impact for Chelsea's younger generation when they see things like this. They may choose to go to club that looks after young players and not see them as a quick profit
I think its different for Mount. He was hyped up as being Chelsea's Messi and then he refuses to sign while his dad was talking up Manchester United about how it was a dream to play for them (alluding as instead of Chelsea). So, Mount got that tag of a disloyal mercenary from the extras.

I think the general consensus around Gallagher is that the club is evil now. A guy who wants to be at Chelsea, works his behind off to do so, as Sparked said, was the captain, he played the most games out of anyone including the GKs pretty much last season and here, the club is forcing him out.

If I was younger, I would be the same stance. The club is evil. Now? I'm just like, I want to see Gallagher leave and be great. Just like Tomori, Guehi, Tammy before the injury and maybe even Trevoh.

Gallagher will be off to Atletico Madrid for 40 million euro. That's a true chance at becoming a world class player right there. The most English style club outside of England (basically the Spanish Chelsea), known for bringing up box 2 box midfielders. Gallagher will have a real chance at it. Fits his style completely.

If he doesn't do like Bale and actually immerses himself in the Spanish culture? He'll be good. He'll show why I said he's the real diamond of Chelsea's academy.

      Also,

Crystal Palace about to have a strong CB pairing if they can land Trevoh Chalobah. That combo of Guehi and Chalobah will be better than any combo at Chelsea right now.

I know I've said stuff like this before...

But I might be a better centre half than Benoit Badiashile

Seriously. It's strange the way he has went. Because when he first joined, he was actually pretty good those first 11 games. Looked like the best, natural partner to Thiago Silva.

A bad run of form and an injury later, now he has whatever Fernando Torres got after that leg injury.

He looks like he's forgotten how to play football to me at certain moments.

Possibly some sort of breakdown in which case he needs to be sent away.

The thing with football is that I do feel comfortable criticising footballers at times (even tongue in cheek) because most of us have played organised football at some sort of level.

Also it is not life or limb.

Nobody is gonna be fatally hurt outside of a once in a blue moon horrendous cardiac event. For contrast you will never really see me criticise any boxers performance because of the inherent risk involved. But with footballers you can always be within your rights to criticise a lack of effort and rudimentary decision making.

Badiashille yesterday. I know it's a friendly but for both goals but especially the second. All he had to do is sprint to the goal line and cut off the angle and it was a simple goal saving intervention. He jogged all the way back and had no instinct at all to stop the goal. Literally, letting the ball roll past him.

It was the most bizarre 'defending' I've ever seen. I would say, genuinely, 99.9% of anyone who has ever played an organised game of any standard would have naturally sprinted back to the line and mostly prevented that goal unless they were either a child, old aged pensioner, or disabled.

I don't even think you could show that to Badiashille or the team if you were a coach because it was just too embarrassing.

Fat Trev 12 pints in would naturally have drifted back to the line and tried to cut off the angle.

It was a friendly but for me I think I'd be trying to move Badiashille out of the club now. His mistakes have got increasingly bizarre but that wasn't even amateurish. It was worse.

Sounds like Palace will only move for Chalobah if Guehi is out, which is sounding likely at this point, seems like Newcastle is gonna hit the # Palace want

I don't think that's a massive drop off imo, maybe an upgrade. Chalobah is more experienced and physically more imposing.

Chalobah should be playing for England.

I don't know why Chalobah is so disrespected by the game really. I don't think I've ever heard any pundit praise him ever. He's an absolute football blindspot. I'm not saying he's world class but he's very experienced and accomplished and only suffers when forced to play right back.

Chalobah's Chelsea win percentage is wild and has played in finals and the champions league he's only really played for us when we stopped being good. The fact that everyone assumes he will join Palace and that will be a natural fit for him probably irks him.

No disrespect to Palace. They will comfortbaly finish above Chelsea this season.

But Chalobah probably looked at champions league teams and thinks, rightfully, he can compete at that level because he has, consistently.

Chalobah must look on at Badiashille with absolute horror. Chalobah was better than Badiashille is now when he was about 14.

Chalobah for me, more than Gallagher, is a bigger indicator of the ownership genuinely weakening the team and making them less competitive.

Badiashille, Disasi, Fofana, and Colwill. For me, wouldn't get near Palace's team for example. Chalobah would. So Chelsea, arrogantly, must believe they will compete for top 4, yet for me they have centre backs that wouldn't start for 2/3rd of the Premier league. Maybe more.

I cant see Badiashille in his current guise being able to play to start for any team in the top 3 divisions of English football.

I mean maybe Mount didn't sign a new deal because they lowballed him or gave him ultimatums like they have Gallagher. Sign or rot in the reserves kinda thing.
Idk if that happened but your board so far has a terrible rep so I wouldn't rule it out.

Clubs looking after their homegrown talent might seem like something of the past in a cut throat business but young players definitely like to feel wanted, at a club they've been at for life and supported. Stuff like that matters still.

Also having a club selling off all of its homegrown players sends all the wrong signals to the youth teams. No matter how much they perform and how hard they train there is no route to the first team. Its a terrible model.

Yeah heaven forbid Gallagher ends up like Bale. Winning multiple champions leagues, La Liga's, Copa Del Rey's, Club world championships, Super cups etc lol what a flop!

Bale is arguably the best British player of his generation.

It is him or Rooney but I'd probably argue at one point you had Messi, Ronaldo, and then Bale and Neymar on the same level. Bale reached a higher level than Rooney.

Bale was hitting big numbers and scoring in major finals. Physically he was monstrous. His body didnt hold up in the end and he was treated poorly by Madrid fans who are, without question, the worst supporters on earth.
