However Bendtner did go on that run of form last season near the Champions League round of 16 i think? where he started scoring in the League and he also got a few goals in the CL including the one against Barcelona which took Arsenal ahead in the tie for the first time.

He seemed to score when it mattered, he didn't do it consistently throughout the season but he was instrumental for Arsenal getting that far in the Champions League. We'll have to see if Chamakh can do the same or whether he will just turn into a Carlos Vela and only score when the game is already won.

Edit: Didn't realise Bendtner is only 22! I wouldn't criticize him too much he is very young and he had a good second half of the season for someone of that age.
Yea he's really young so is vela as well but vela always scores on games that arsenal are winning by three or more goals, chamakh is good because he is consistintly attacking and passin the ball trying to make good plays for his teammates.

Vela either misses horriblely or scores a decent goal when arsenal are winning 4-0.

Bendtner had a pretty good run last season, not an excellent one but it was good I wouldn't consider it a failure, he got a hat trick against fc porto last season at home when porto beat arsenal 2-1 at portugal.

To be fair though, that Barca goal was a tap in, a tap in that he need to score on the rebound cause his first shot got saved Lol, typical Bendnter Lol, he did score an important goal against Birmingham i think it was, however he is not the type of player you want to bring on, or lead the line in big games, infact he was absolutely hopeless in the second leg at the Nou Camp, hardly got a kick.

What is Bendy going to offer when a team plays a high line and attacks you? nothing, he is not an outball cause he is not particularly great at holding the ball, due to his poor first touch, has no pace to get beyond those defenders, infact everything Bendy does, he has to rely on the players around him, thats what i dont like, there is no individuality about him, he is not going to pick the ball up and spank it in from 20 yards, he is just gonna wait around like a head on a stick hoping someone puts the ball on his head, or that he gets a tap in.

The age thing does not stand up for me either, Wilshere is young, Cesc was young at 17, Macheda is young, Anelka was young(17), yet anyone with half a brain could see, even at that age, that those players have far more potential (higher ceiling than Bendy).

BTW, *** Allardyce, he is in the man who is always berating official's, promoting long ball tactics, kicking players, he is the cancer of the league, fat **** him.

I remember it wasn't too long ago that we were calling for exactly that type of "fox in the box" player.

I disagree though, i think he offers more than just tap ins and scruffy goals. He works hard for the team making clever runs that draw defenders out of position and being over 6ft he's always going to offer a plan B.

Like others have said, he has a knack for scoring goals that mean something ... winners & equalisers (stoke, wolves, hull, sunderland from memory).

The age factor varies from player to player, Drogba for example was nothing more than a UEFA cup player at best until his mid 20s.

Javier Little Pork Chop Orozco has 10 goals in 3 games in the concacaf champions league.

Yeah but lets be honest, he is no Ian Wright is he, he is not going to score 20+ goals a season.

He does make good runs, he is also strong mentally, but aside from that, there is nothing particularly good about him that stands out.

Come on gunners, you must know he is never going to reach the level of a Drogba?

gunners, would be interested to know, who would you take out of Darren Bent, Crouch and Bendtner? i think those players are much of a muchness, that is how highly i rate Bendy, not that im right, just how i feel regarding his abilities.

Sorry, what were they meant to do, part like the Red Sea when United wanted a shot at goal?

From the looks of it rangers came in for a 0-0 draw they had like 6 guys in there own box every time defending, hopefully united can get a lucky goal and go out with the W
We done the same thing all teams do when they can't outplay their opponents - defend and try to counter-attack.

I have to be honest Darren bent would be very prolific at arsenal IMO his goal scoring record for an English forward is fantastic. Crouch could brig something different to arsenal but notnas a first team player I think.. I like strikers who can play a bit aswell but if they can't they need to be tidy and good finishers like a van nistlerooy

Dj emz.. Messi is the best player in the world right now
