We weren't trying to hurt civilians

We were hitting a legitimate strategic target

The 100 million dead Chinese was unfortunate

Blame Truman for not supporting the ROC a ********ic/capitalist country that was a staunch American ally, when they had control of the mainland and allowed Mao's communist forces to gain victory, defeat and drive the ROC to Taiwan. Truman was way out of his depth as President of the US. Based on China's history, land size, and population, it has always been the most important country within East Asia. Japan was the most advance nation in East Asia because they started modernizing in the 1860s during the Meiji Restoration, but because of its relative modest size and population, never was the most important regional power in the region. Taiwan is a modern and rich developed nation today that is in the American sphere of influence, imagine if that was the whole of China instead. Again, Truman was way out of his depth as President of the US.

Nationalist China wasn't ********ic. Very corrupt too.

But they weren't communist and we had good relations with them.

Truman was a short sighted moron.

He let eastern europe fall and he let China become communist.

He let Korea stay split when we could have a unified Korean ally.

He let the French lose in Vietnam and we ended having to fight it.

One of the worst presidents ever.

All the headaches of the cold war was because of Truman weakness. All of the future headaches of a China cold war will also be due to him.
