How much have modern minds been molded by computers?

There's an old saying, "God created man in his image, and then man returned the favor."

I think present-day, a similar saying fits, "Humans created computers in their image, and then computers returned the favor."

There are a couple of levels to this. One level is the actual hardware, the neuron connections, and the "algorithms" our thoughts use. Then the other level is more the application level, where applications like social media shape the "application layer" of our brain, aka our conscious thoughts.

Those are the two levels to it. We notice the application layer a lot more, but don't always appreciate that our actual hardware, or brain structure changes, as do thought patterns and other fundamental things that go on to build our conscious thoughts.

Computers no. I think social media has had by far the biggest impact on minds.

Yeah and I think it has snuck up on a lot of people. It was a new technology/application and was & is constantly evolving so it was tough to know exactly how much damage it could do to our society.

People spend all day on there like the AOL days, but worse, since now you can just look at your phone.

I think people who don't build things struggle to understand the very fundamental nature of building. A computer is rather complex and by way of complexity hides its most basic nature, but, all thing built share a base. They are all extension of their builders.

So, like with all things electronic, it's not so much a new influence as much as facilitating the influence of people by people on a level of efficiency no human could ever compete with.

To make this theory more relatable consider the pre-internet method of sales vs the current world of pop ups and such. The annoyance of an ad youtube and the annoyance of a door-to-door sales man knocking while you watch your TV during prime-time are comparable. The influence is more or less the same. Mostly annoying, every once in a while you may react with a "neat" and buy some ****, but at the end of the day they are both forms of interruption for the sole purpose of pitching you a product or service.

They are the same, the bombardment is different.

So to the title of this thread, yes, the answer is yes, and that's why all you little ****s have ADHD and ****, but, to the follow up explanation in the OP, no bud. We can not create an alien and so will not have alien influence. What we can create is a recreation of ourselves that's able to power through our own interactions by proxy at inhuman rates.

AI without sentient life forms around it to draw what it is meant to be is dumb as ****. Closed off AI existed for a long, long time, and newer fancy AI from a tech perspective is not that impressive. It's not that it's more advanced than video game character AI, it is that it's linked to a bigger bank to draw from. Without that bank it's less than a tard and you know this. And so, nothing man has made yet breaks the fundamental nature of creation. ... it is always an extension of man.

Good thread to be fair. The prompts matter.
