I prep for emergency situations. Let's face it, if SHTF it will be neighbors stealing from neighbors. Desperate times.

As for firearms, we shoot 5 min away on ***. It's been a hobby for many many years as I grew up hunting. I own my share of toys and have a safe for just ammo. If it hits the fan we'll do what we can and that's all we can do.

I fish, hunt, have many animals around the property. Lots of people couldn't even tell you have to load a magazine. So that's a plus.

I suspect that you will have a great deal more desire to survive than you think if some kind of disaster reduces us to fighting for our individual survival.

I'm not advocating building a bomb shelter, digging a moat/planting a mine field around your home, and building a huge cache of firearms and ammo. However, having a supply of food and water/water filtration system to last at least a few months is only common sense. What if your area is subject to a natural disaster like a tornado, hurricane, etc.??? And, having at least one handgun and a semi-auto rifle (AK or AR) with at least a couple of thousand rounds of ammo to defend your life and your possessions is also just common sense.

During a disaster I would not deny giving some food or water to someone, especially if they had a kid(s). However, if it comes down to giving it to my granddaughters or someone else's kids you already know who is going to get my food and water!

Don't listen to the media's mockery of preppers. Sure, there are some that go off the deep end. But, there are different levels of prepping and everyone should have some measure of back up in case of a disaster - natural or man made.
