Reese made it all about race, hence the pushback and criticism. She and other race-obsessed under-achievers in the league should not bite the hand that feeds them. Ratings are at an all-time high because of Clark, yet Reese behaves like a petty, petulant child fishing for attention.Mr Mitts

But I fear it may be too late. The issue now seems to be reverberating across the league with players picking sides.
Media is loving it as Ben points out. Lots of coverage.
But it would have been better coverage if the league right from the get-go, got behind her, justified or not. It was the opportunity to create the WNBA's first super star. (Whether she is that player or not, doesn't matter. You grab the opportunity.)
Anyway Reese made herself the poster child of racial protest against Clarke, but now she has matured and is handling it better. But it may already be a cancer they can't stop from spreading.
They had there league saving 'Joe Namath' opportunity, and they are shoving her to the floor. Very stupld behavior.Last edited by Willie Pep 229; 06-30-2025, 06:28 PM.

Broadway Joe was a media darling and crossed over into mainstream entertainment venues. I get it, a different mindset in football in those days, players were expected to be rough and fish out punishment regardless of opponent. Unitas played with a bloody broken nose after a defensive lineman punched him during a tackle. This is why I also have a difficult time comparing football players from previous eras where quarterbacks weren’t protected and a Safety could clothesline a receiver or chop a QB at the knees. Modern players don’t have to play under those conditions, which is a good thing overall.
The unwritten rule back then was don't hit Namath below the waist. You will put him out for the season and the fans will disappear.
Today, that same unwritten rule, the defensive players created for themselves back in 1965-'66, is actually now a penalty. You can't hit a QB below the waste. His knees will never hold up.Last edited by Willie Pep 229; 06-30-2025, 09:48 PM.

It's so funny reading you guys talk about basketball when you obviously don't watch any basketball, much less women's basketball.
"Reese made it about race...?" When did she do that?
"She's not a good player?" She was an all-star her rookie year, most consecutive double doubles in a season, 2nd most double doubles in a season, league rebound leader in just her rookie year...
Yea, ok
