I took an aptitude test for Roofers Union. Now I feel ******ed.

Man. That sh#t ******. There were 5 different sections on the test. Mechanical reasoning, numerical computation, numerical reasoning, paper folding, and reading.

Mechanical reasoning was okay, I fu#kin ****** at numerical computation. How in the fu#k am I supposed to do math without a calculator? I mean really. Numerical reasoning was okay, just look for a pattern. Paper folding was fu#kin weird. Supposed to be 3-D visualization. Reading was by far the easiest.

Man, I thought this aptitude test was going to be like 2 + 2 = The State of Tennessee. I thought roofing was for people who are too dumb to do anything else, much like myself.

I’ll get my test results and ranking 3 weeks from now. I know a lot of you guys said I shouldn’t be a roofer, but I don’t give a fu#k. I have nothing going in my life anyways. Might as well do something I’m going to hate. Life’s too short to do fun stuff anyways.

Damn dude. Sounds like a very humbling experience. If you don't pass and have to take it again see if you can take any prep tests or test courses like they have for Fire and Police.

Good luck with that. Im in construction and I know roofers make real good money especially during summer.

One thing to keep in mind though. Roofing is very dangerous and I know several guys who got seriously injured or died. Be very careful

I’ve heard that too. At the same time, I’ve heard that the reason for that is because they weren’t paying attention or weren’t following directions, which lead to accidents.

And yeah right off the bat I’ll be making more money that I do now.

I did roofing a long time ago. Not for a union though, it was a private contractor. Most of the roofers I worked with were druggies and drunks. Now I see a work crew doing a rood and they are mostly Latino or Eastern European. It's hard work and brutal in the summer. I'm not sure about aptitude tests though, you just need some common sense. It's not rocket science.

Yea, don't let that bother you at all. I'm horrible with math but an expert at actually sitting down at doing numbers. A lot of this stuff is designed to test book smarts or natural knowledge/aptitude.

I've seen guys who dropped out of MIDDLE school who run businesses with their eyes closed.

            Go kick some ass.

Permission to lick ass instead of kicking it?

Sh^t they'll probably make you President of the Roofers Union once they see your results cuz I gotta figure lotsa roofing dudes are not doing well on that test. I mean f#ck man who even knew there was a test for this in the first place.

Respect & good luck doe. I've done roofing a couple times back in the day on the side & its rough ass work. Outside of my first job ever where I had to pull big ass bricks off a conveyor belt I think my #2 worst job was climbing up a ladder with shingles over my shoulder & walking on steep ass roofs that felt weaker than I expected.

                Be careful.

Yeah that was pretty much my experience. One of them had us roofing the wrong house. Halfway into the job the boss/owner shows up and flips his shyt. By law we had to finish the job we started free of cost to the homeowner. It was a tenement building so landlord didn’t know we were up there until boss arrived.
