Why are drug dealers severely penalized, but illegal gun sellers not persecuted to

The furthest extent of the law?

When I ask how is Chicago getting all the illegal guns, it only points to one thing. Illegal gun sellers.

Baffling how marijuana sellers get more prison time than someone illegally selling a gun used to kill someone.

I wonder if the big picture goal is to get them to kill themselves?

    EDIT:

He blocked me. Here's a thread recap:

"Is there a gun factory in Chicago somewhere? How else how would guns be leaking into the local environment"

"How would gang members buy guns? Aren't they required to file with the National Gangmember Association upon joining a gang organization?"

"That leaves the KKK, who are smuggling guns into Chicago and arming black people to the teeth. I mean. Wait a sec."

Illegal gun sellers are heavily prosecuted. BATF is notorious for dropping the book for even minor arm smuggling/modification violations. What are you basing this theory off of? A single anecdotal case?

I assume what you actually wanted to do is make a thread announcing that you like drugs but dislike guns. So let's talk about how they reach affect modern America.

    Trending in opposite directions:
Gun deaths are down over 50% from the mid 1990s:

While drug deaths are soaring at an epidemic rate and greatly exceed gun deaths in quantity:

Drugs also cause a much larger degree of intergenerational damage (nearly all neglected & abused children come from households partaking in recreational drug use).

I do like your idea about saving tax dollars by encouraging drug dealers to kill themselves but I also like the Duterte solution of simply killing them.

WTF are you talking about? Illegal gun trade is heavily punished.

Possession of a machine gun will get you 30 years FED time.

        Check the federal sentencing guidelines.

How much jail time do you get for federal gun charges?
Description of Gun Crime Statutory Minimum Prison Sentence
Possessing a Machinegun, Destructive Device, or Firearm Silencer / Muffler in Furtherance of Crime of Violence or Drug Trafficking Crime

Chicago has more guns than people. If it's illegal to have an illegal gun in Chicago, how the hell are they getting the guns?

If illegal gun sellers were being actively targeted, there wouldn't be more guns in Chicago than people.

My theory is there are no gun manufacturing companies in Chicago. How the hell are all these illegal guns getting there and why aren't the people putting them there heavily prosecuted like your local Mary Jane dealer.

Chicago residents are reporting boxes and boxes of free guns laying in allies. Who put them there? Santa Claus?

You have 12 year old kids walking around with guns in Chicago and no one ever asked why is it just as easy to get a gun in Chicago as it is a dime bag of weed?

Why wouldn't the exact same gang members moving drugs through the city be moving guns through the city into the hands of felons? Delivering illicit items to people who aren't supposed to have them is their business.

I don't see how Chicago lacking a local firearms industry would is relevant. It's not like they would be illegally dumping their gun overflow into rivers and having them accidentally wash up on the lake.
