What ethical difference is there between eating a dog and eating a pig?

Some people might say oh dogs are smarter and they have personality... But pigs display about the same level of intelligence and personality. They even act like dogs if you raise a micropig as a pet.

Some people might say oh pigs wallow in their shlt. No they don't. They only do that because that's where people keep pigs, in a pen from the time their born. If you see a wild pig in the forest, he's not going to sleep in its shlt. Dogs actually wallow in shlt more naturally because wolves evolved to do that as a way to mask their scent to prey.

The only difference I can see is that one animal is more aesthetically pleasing to own as a pet and one is not. Yet the same people who eat pigs, frown upon and condemn eating dogs.

To those people I say, how about you slow your hypocrisy a little, you blind ignorant monkeys.

I would say that dogs have been bred and eugenically selected to be domesticated pets for humans. They have even evolved to replicate our facial expressions to better communicate and understand humans better. Pigs have been bred and selected to be domesticated LIVESTOCK. Im with you in the sense that they have about the same intelligence level and can more or less bond with a human at the same level dogs do, hell their way better than cats in that regard. But through body type pigs make a better option to eat than dogs and theyve been bred for different reason. Up until very recently most dogs bred were engineered for a purpose and have been constantly working alongside humans for thousands of years. Pigs however have always been bred to be eaten

That argument does nothing to rationalizing why it's ethically ok to eat a pig and not a dog lol

Just because we bred one wild animal to be meat and one wild animal to be companions doesn't justify anything.

Both are tasty but bacon>>>>>>>dog meat. Other than that, no ethical difference.

Humanity's treatment of pigs is pretty appalling lol.

From the time they're born we lock them up in a tiny cell because it's the cheapest way to yield meat from livestock, you just need a tiny area the size of a couple square meters to rear pigs compared to having to own a field... Where we feed them garbage, and force them to live and sleep in shlt, not moving too much so their calorie burning stays low and fat retention stays high.

And then the same people who perpetuate this industry, then launch animal rights campaigns against people who eat dogs lol

there's no difference but the Chinese who eat dogs, boil and skin them alive to supposedly make them taste better.
