White House Considering $450 Weekly ‘Back To Work Bonus’

White House chief economic adviser Larry Kudlow indicated the Trump Administration may consider backing a “back to work bonus” as opposed to extending the $600 weekly unemployment benefit bonus currently in place as part of the CARES Act. The $600 weekly unemployment benefits are in addition to state unemployment benefits.

The ********s have proposed extending the unemployment benefit bonus as part of the HEROES Act, a mammoth $3 trillion proposal that includes another $1,200 stimulus check, more spending on unemployment benefits, small business benefits, additional Covid-19 testing, and much more.

The $3 trillion proposal far exceeds the largest stimulus package ever passed by the U.S., the CARES Act, and is unlikely to be passed in its current form. The **********-controlled Senate is set to vote on the HEROES Act when they return from the current break. However, it is likely there will be extensive cuts or modifications if the bill is to be passed.

In the meantime, the White House and other groups are continuing to explore other options. One such proposal, by Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH), would include paying a $450 weekly bonus to unemployed workers who return to work. This weekly bonus would be paid for a limited time and would be paid in addition to the worker’s wages.

In an interview with Fox News, Sen. Portman indicated the $600 weekly unemployment bonus is a disincentive for unemployed workers to return to work because many of them currently earn more while unemployed than while working.

I think it’s time to end that bonus unemployment.

They will probably just extend the 600 a week from July to the end of September. Unemployment is taxable income anyway and by the time the economy opens up most people will be back at work full time.

Most people who are not unemployed will be back at work and the ones who were unemployed will have a hard time finding a job, so they will need to collect

the only reason the **********s don't want the extension is because the people who are benefiting were very poor workers and if they increase the bonus checks to January 2021 that would mean they would make way more than they did when they were working, some of these gig workers only make 10k a year, with an extension they could make 35 thousand a year and not have to work.

People have to pay tax on unemployment anyway so its not really free money, the downside is poor people dont know its not free and that they still have to pay taxes so you will see many of them spend all their money without saving any for taxes.

Pelosi ALWAYS has to have her way, sad but true, so you likely won't see the 450 a week for people to get back to work

the 450 a week until December is way better than paying a few million poor gig workers 600 a week until the end of January.

When people go back to work it helps the economy then you give them the 450 on top of it say for a few more months they will have spending money to stimulate the economy

This would be the best solution

but Pelosi will get her way so they will come to a compromise and bow to her and I think they will either extend the 600 a week for poor unemployed workers for two more months instead of until January.

                  Nope.

                  Not gonna cut it.

Unsung heroes like Robbie Barrett won't leave their mom's basements til they get at least $5000 and a year supply of Cheetos.
