Jon Jones rants at drop in UFC pound-for-pound rankings after falling below Israel Adesanya

Jon Jones is far removed from the top of the UFC’s official pound-for-pound rankings list that he once ruled, and he’s not happy that the number next to his name keeps changing.

On Friday, Jones took to Twitter to criticize the current rankings and seemingly take shots at UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. In a recent update to the UFC’s site, Jones fell two spots from the No. 2 position, which was taken by Alexander Volkanovski, and Adesanya rose to the No. 3 position. Jones currently sits at No. 4.

Jones wrote via Twitter, “When your [sic] ranked over Jon Jones on a pound for pound list but know you can’t defend a take down” along with a shrugging emoji.

Several tweets followed including one in which Jones suggested, “Just take me off that silly list.” Jones has not competed since a successful light heavyweight championship defense against Dominick Reyes at UFC 247 in February of last year. It was the last title defense for Jones before he vacated his belt seven months later in anticipation of a move to heavyweight and a potential bout with champion Francis Ngannou.

Jones also fired back at a Twitter user who suggested that the “game passed you by.”

“I guess so,” Jones wrote. “I guess you can have 1⁄3 of an MMA game and be considered the real deal these days. This is some new **** right here.”

Jones was recently removed from MMA Fighting’s Global Rankings and MMA Fighting’s Pound-for-Pound Rankings in August due to being inactive for 18 months. His pro record stands at 26-1 (1 NC), with his one loss coming by way of disqualification against Matt Hamill in December 2009 in a bout that Jones was dominating.

The three-time UFC champion currently has more serious problems to worry about as he is facing charges of battery domestic violence and tampering with a vehicle after being arrested in Las Vegas for an incident that involved his longtime fiancee. Jones has denied the charges.

He should be ranked the #1 pound for pound fighter behind bars.

Should def be removed for inactivity. He's already been out 1.5 years and recently hinted at needing another full year to be comfortable at heavyweight.

I think p4p status is something you should need to reaffirm regularly. Jones is very inactive and then add to that that his last two fights were both controversial decisions over guys that went on to get completely ****ing wrecked afterwards. You have to be ranking him based on **** he did years ago at this point.
