There are a few i5 laptop CPU's that are on par with an Desktop i3 but those will be in high end gaming laptops.

I'm saving money up to build an high end PC, probably going to waste between $1500-$3000 and this is the bad boy that will hold everything.

^ You don't always have to get the latest & greatest soon as they come out, especially since Intel likes to make so many processors around the same speed & price range. They're top of the line & I personally love their stuff but I prefer to wait until the hype dies down and the kinks get worked out before buying any piece of technology. Anything that comes out brand new is really just full price beta testing.

Agree but I'm saving money up to upgrade to something new, I currently have an Locked Ivy Bridge i5. I'm going to wait some time next year when Haswell-e CPU's are released that's why I will spend about $1500-$3000.

TBH it doesn't really matter. Any current generation processor will be able to run any game with no problems. Any AMD Six or 8 core proccesor compareable to a 3rd generation i5 3k and higher will be more processing power than you'll need.

What's more important is your video card.

If your on a budget go for AMD fx-6300 or AMD fx-8350 no other processor is worth it in AM3+ socket.

Personally if I wanted AMD I would hold out until AMD announces a new line of processors hopefully a new architecture.
