    Calzaghe aims at Hopkins' record!

WBO super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe says he plans to surpass former middleweight champion Bernard Hopkins' record of twenty successful title defenses. Calzaghe will equal 'The Executioner's' mark if he defeats Peter Manfredo on March 3, a feat Hopkins has indicated an interest in trying to prevent. "If Bernard Hopkins doesn't want me to break his title defense record, then he should have fought me when he had the chance years ago. Breaking his record? When it comes to fighting me, Bernard Hopkins, like Roy Jones, is a BROKEN record. Just talk, talk, talk. There are a lot of great and exciting fights out there for me, but the only one that means anything to me right now is Peter Manfredo, Jr., because there are no other fights without beating him. But I will say this, I intend to break Bernard's record, with or without him."

they claim calzaghe is ducking kessler because he is facing manfredo,

but this statement by calzaghe makes it clear to me he has already signed a 2 or 3 fight contract ( maybe more ) with manfredo being his first challanger and therefore cannot fight kessler

It could also just be that he would retire if he loses.

yeah sure, calzone. a LOT of great and exciting fights out there for you. exciting like ur fight with bika, right?

this is the letter of the law vs the spirit of the law. if calzone wins, on paper it'll say hes got 20 title defences and might beat hopkins' record. but in reality, calzone's "reign" cant even touch hopkins'. hopkins had huge fights with tito, twice with taylor, oscar, tarver, and jones. calzone's biggest fight was his one fight with lacy.

if hopkins had stayed retired and calzone retired after his fight with lacy, whos legacy do you think would be more impressive? (this isnt a real question cuz theres only one answer)

if said it before, hopkins doesnt need phony calzone. calzone needs hopkins.
