I always thought an elite swarmer would capitalize on it.

In David B we finally have a high volume pressure fighter
Yeah Benavidez will majorly test that gas tank.

canelo himself thinks benavidez would beat him, thats why hes been ducking him and flighting teeny tiny men. he even went up to 175 to fight a non puncher in bivol instead, that didnt work out too well but at least he didnt take a beating. guys that can beat you up and knock you out like prime ggg, beterbiev, benavidez just arent worth it. its the same floyd-marg floyd-cotto floyd-pac thing. you want to fight the guys you can steal decisions from even if they are better than you, like ggg or bivol(almost stole it) that way when you do lose it gives you plausible deniability and you can say oh i really won like canelo did against bivol which was laughable. getting ko'd is hard to deny although wilder tried with teh illegal gloves thing.

So you think Benavidez hits harder than Bivol. I wouldn`t say so.

Bivol is fighting guys bigger than him. Benavidez is fighting guys smaller than him.

Benavidez really belongs to 175. Than we will se how good he is.

I'm more curious to see how Canelo's stamina holds up. We know he puts everything into every shot he throws, so how's he going to hold up when he has to continue to do that to keep David at bay? Sure, he likes it more when fighters come to him, but he's going to have to exert a lot of energy to keep him off and keep pace with Benavidez. David threw 49 less punches in 6 rounds than Canelo threw in 12 against Charlo. Canelo's output, even against overmatched opposition, has been pretty bad. We've seen him completely exhausted in the championship rounds. He doesn't have that extra gear and against David, I wonder how the second half of the fight would be. At this point, we can count out Canelo's chances of improving his stamina significantly enough. It's not going to happen at his age with that many miles on him.

              Yes Bena hits harder

I’m a Bivol fan his style is fleet feet

Bivol achieves this by not sitting down on his punches

Taking a shot from Bena would be more painful

Ultimately I see Bena’s volume and pressure being a problem for Alvarez rather than his power

Alvarez has excellent defense and is iron chin hero. Don’t see him getting ko’d anytime soon

I don't know that he does.

Points in his favor are volume and endurance and youth, along with the physical reach advantage. If he's got a good chin, he can bank a few rounds early and force Canelo to fight at a higher pace than he's used to, and take it to him in the later rounds. If he's strong enough to push Canelo back, that may make a difference too.

Points against him are permeable guard, and Canelo is a vicious counter puncher and body puncher. Canelo will crack him clean and hit him in the arms to slow that barrage down and take power, and commit to the body and drain the gas tank. He's also got massively more experience, with more than 3.5 times as many rounds in the bank.

Another issue for him is that he's not the A-side. Even if he can take Canelo's power and edge Canelo in a close fight, he still likely doesn't win a decision, because boxing is corrupt. So he's got to stop a guy who's never been stopped or even tasted the canvas, or dominate him ala Bivol.

Either way, this is the only fight to make at 168 that anyone should care about.

The fight would be dictated by Canelo reflexes. If he still has him and counterpunches David well he will need to slow down his offense. Canelo is a good body puncher and there is a lot of real estate to hit on David.

Benavidez some have mentioned already his advantages, big, strong, tall, active and young.

One of the biggest fights in boxing right now.

its not that he hits harder but his style puts more pressure on his opponent and wears them down. bivol is happy to just take a decision like he did against canelo. benavidez is going to be more relentless and guys like floyd/canelo do not like that style at all which is why historically they avoided that style in favor of better matchups for them, if the guy ages out of that style then they might take the fight and say "see i was always better" but thats just propaganda on their end when the truth is crystal clear why they didnt take those matchups at the time. canelo has already done this to ggg saying he was too small yet fighting at super middle before ggg...saying he was too small for beterbiev but fighting kovalev and bivol...making excuses not to fight benavidez the last couple years. benavidez has been #1 at 168 since 2019 and he hasnt fought him. this is just like marg/floyd where marg was #1 for 3-4 years and floyd kept figthing guys like ssharmba, zab off a loss, little guys moving up, etc.... if benavidez eventually loses...here come the canelo fans "see i told you he ******" as canelo fights teeny tiny men and bums and keeps winning. wow great stuff...

Garvil 2. Solid 168 fighter, not a 160-inflated pure boxer setup by Al Haymon in a straw-weight ring. Takes Benavidez shots pretty well, 9 rounds and still there in a high guard (Canelo's high guard takes away probably 60% of your work and you have to watch for his vicious counters) returns fire, and can move Benavidez back on occasion even after Benavidez saw him from the first fight. This guy is literally a D- version of Canelo. Don't be fooled by Benavidez and the machine pushing him. Haymon is a turd, knew Andrade couldn't exchange with Benavidez in that tiny ring. Canelo will handle him just like Bivol handled Gilberto Ramirez.
