Comments Thread For: Paulie Malignaggi's Picks: Shakur Stevenson showed he's best at 135 pounds and that it's time for rivals to step up

In victory over Artem Harutyunyan, Shakur Stevenson again showed how good he really is. He might not have been exciting, but he'll beat the exciting fighters he's matched with, which ultimately is the bottom line

I don't see any track record at 135 showing that he's the best. Can he stink the joint out for a win against Tank or Loma? It's possible. I'm no Tank fan, but I think he walks Shakur down and puts hands on him. I think the Loma that fought Haney puts hands on him, too. Sure, the guys Shakur has fought have a hard time hitting him.

Agree. Shakur does not have a track record to show that he has fought the best fighters in his division.

Lmfao. How tf did he showed he’s the best Paulie? Come on.

          Tank just KO’ed Frank Martin.

Stevenson just won a boring decision over Martin’s leftovers.

          Not even close.

Based on eyes for all his boring he is extremely hard to beat, he is the only one who could possibly beat Davis in a stinker.

                He's right.

"Boring" defensive first fighters are always underrated & virtually always beat the overrated offense first fighters.

We saw this all the time with Rigondeaux, Lara, Mayweather, Whitaker, etc. . .who were always supposed to get beat down by whatever "killers" were out there, but never were.

                Defensive skills>>>>>power

The hype with this guy is next level. He got hit plenty his last fight he’s just lucky the guy had no power and it didn’t seem like he ever phased his opponent. There’s levels in boxing and he’s not competing at a high level. Of course you’re gonna be ****y and confident and look good fighting people that are on a lower level. He honestly doesn’t even look good fighting these lower level guys. They’re the ones that should be highlight reel KOs not long boring decisions.

Two of his rivals already stepped up and are negotiating a fight, Davis and Loma. Zepeda needs to step up and fight Stevenson which GBP already turned down.
