      2. Canelo/Cotto in May will do better than whatever bull**** Floyd 'Books' Mayweather.
You need to take your head out of the sand. Cotto/Alvarez won't sell more than 600,000 buys on PPV, even with a great undercard. Neither is in Floyd's league. Floyd could fight Rod Salka in his next PPV and it would outsell Cotto/Alvarez.

anything over 300k is a good profit for a canelo ppv, since he doesnt have a 32 million guarantee, others have to do over a million or take a loss...
by the way fighting rod salka wont get your 32 mil guarantee....

I never said it would. I simply said that Cotto/Alvarez fight will not outsell a Mayweather fight. The Cotto/Alvarez fight will sell well and is definitely worthy of a PPV event, but there are too many fans operating under the delusion that Alvarez is much bigger attraction than Mayweather.

of course he is not, he still got a long way, but the big ppv stars are about to retire and thats where canelos name comes to the table... for now he is in the process of building his name as a PPV attraction and i will say they are doing a good job at it...

Well obviously! He is not a PPV Draw Yet and the biggest mistake Oscar and GBP are making is assuming that Latino Fans ALONE can make him a DRAW. News Flash Oscar, you was a Draw here in the US because for 1.You're American, 2. You Won A Gold Medal For the US and 3 (and this is most important). Oscar SPEAKS ENGLISH!

Good luck trying to build up Canelo in the US without him being able to speak English and not being able to go on ESPN and do interviews to sell his fights up and coming fights. Sorry I know the Latin Fans are the BEST and they support their own like no other but the biggest misconception is that Latin Fans are the Driving Force to Big PPV Numbers. They're Part of It but in the US, the Casual Fans regardless of Race are the ones who drive those PPV Numbers Up! If you cannot reach them you will never become that big a of a PPV Draw.

Fans are not very smart either because they think Style alone is what get people watching...NO, OVERALL APPEAL OF THE FIGHTER is what get people watching, CHARISMA OUTSIDE OF THE RING and the ability to sell yourself outside of the ring is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT unless you have a promoter like Don King who is a crook but was brilliant at Promoting and Selling his fighters to the Casual American Fans. Don't have a promoter as charismatic like that anymore which is another reason why boxing is stale right now.

One could argue that since Lara put the PPV audience to sleep in their fight, Canelo is now forced to go off PPV for this fight to show the casual boxing crowd he's really not that boring. After that stinker Lara made us all pay for, I could see a lot of people taking a pass on anymore Canelo PPVs until he fights a Cotto. Guilt by association. That's why they're going with action fighters.
