i wouldn't vote froch into the hall of fame, but he's probably getting in.

he's nowhere near an ATG. can you imagine froch against great middleweights and LHW? he'd get freaking destroyed. he wouldnt' get blitzed in one round, and probably wouldn;'t get stopped against the great MW, but he'd get freaking lit up. dude is slow, and easy to hit. his offense isn't that good. power is overrated. he's just tough, and conditioned.

he's also got one of the more overrated resume of the last 10 years. he lost to the best fighters he fought. he hardly touched andre ward. he could easily have a loss to andre dirrell.

in the history section, we generally considered the best 100 fighters of all time, or the best 10 in any major weight division, the ATG. SMW is so young that i don't think it's appropriate to consider the top 10 smw ATG fighters.

What does that make Ward? His best win is Froch. On top of that, Ward beat a guy or two that Froch beat before facing Ward. Oh and when it came to fight Dirrell, Froch fought him and didn't make excuses about it. You want to talk overrated? Ward wins that over Froch by many many miles.

Ward is a junior light-heavyweight. His career shouldn't even be taken seriously until he fights in a grown-ups division.

Same thing can be said in reverse.

Kessler, the same guy who fought Froch in a fight that could of gone the other way? Who else besides that?

Oh and he mentioned one of the most overrated resumes in the past 10 years. I responded.

How would he be? Seriously. How? Tough as nails, fun, very good fighter. Popular for a reason. But you can't call everybody like that an ATG. Might as well call Glen Johnson an ATG. Mancini, throw him in there. All popular good fighters aren't all time greats. Dang.

I wouldn't consider him an ATG in general.

But he's definitely an ATG Super Middleweight.

He's arguably the greatest SMW ever, for me he has the beat resume there.

Depends where you locate him. He's certainly an ATG British fighter. He's an ATG super-middleweight with the division being relatively new.

Beyond that though it's difficult to make a case.

the best fighter of his era, but one who didn't accomplish as much as he could have, given his inactivity,

if ward doesn't get out of his promotional contract, or somehow become active under goossen again, that's how he'll be remembered. i can't remember a bonafide p4p fighter who has been sidelined so heavily from promotional issues. rigondeaux is sidelined for promotional issues as well, but there's a legitimate lack of a following there. ward does well on hbo, and made a lot of money under goossen.

2 million dollars to fight edwin rodriguez is f#cking nice. do that 2X a year, do some commentary on the side, and be happy. don't sue your f#cking promotor.

to directly answer your question in the bold, it makes ward a guy who doesn't know what is good for him, and whose resume took a hit because of it.

ward's only a ppv fighter against kovalev/hopkins/stevenson winner, and gennady golovkin. fights like that are the only way he'll ever be on ppv. i don't think he gets that.

as for ward being overrated, don't be ridiculous. overrating in this context means that the people as a whole overrate a fighter. ward is one of the most hated boxers on the forum in proportion to the amount of fans he has. he has very few fans, and very many who explicitly hate him for one reason or another.
