Comments Thread For: Hunter: Unfortunate Public Was Denied Ward-Golovkin

Virgil Hunter, trainer of former super middleweight king Andre Ward (28-0, 15KOs), is disappointed that a showdown never happened with WBA/IBO/IBF middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs).

The two sides were never in serious talks, with Roc Nation Sports stating to jeetwin188.com several weeks ago that Golovkin's promoter, Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions, rejected their advances in 36 minutes.

No one is forcing you to do **** you phony! YOU'RE the one who chose to fight Paul Smith Jr. at light heavyweight, YOU'RE the one who told Dan Rafael that you can't make 168 lbs anymore. YOU'RE the one who walks around at 200 lbs, which you already admitted to. YOU'RE the one who was inactive for years while everyone else was putting in work building their brand. Roc Nation is "forcing" you to move up to 175 because you're not getting a GGG fight with those types of demands and that actual market value, and they want a return on their investment. You really think that you're gonna get millions to fight bums and never fight a good opponent again? Take your beating with pride from the Krusher.

the fight didnt happen that is fact..

ward wants nobody but ggg..that is a fact..but not good bc he's being lazy in who he fights

ggg wants anyone but ward...likely not a fact bc they've said weak things about lara

i dont like either guy anymore..both are divas now, but it is funny that ggg fans were accepting of ggg being a diva and now that ward acts like one the get upset

"we dont have to fight him we sold out msg"...and so on and so forth..

not a ward fan or hater...just a boxing fan but i think he is a bit gunshy of 175lbs..u have guys rehydrating to 190 plus..and it is all legal..he's only a human he has fear...the layoff and injuries are only making him more tentative..u will not beat kovalev hurt..he knows it and the rest of the world does too..

he had a chance with ggg bc of natural size and ggg being less mobile than a kovalev..with the layoff ggg should have been more confident in beating him

hbo is forcing him to 175 or they wouldnt give him a new deal..that is wat virgil is speaking on ..he wouldnt be taken serious fightin on BET and roc nation hasnt done business with haymon yet...so hbo delt him the forget ggg fight kovalev card...and when i say delt thats the only option he had im sure..hbo cant do business with haymon and they would need to to get ward fights...as for ggg they dont need haymon..none of his guys hold belts at 160..they are going to milk this ggg ruling the 160 division stuff..it makes sense now..it didnt to me the other day

Unfortunate that Ward chose inactivity for 19 months.
Unfortunate that Ward waited 5 months after he signed with RN to finally fight(after 19 months off)
Unfortunate that Ward chose to fight tune ups vs other SMWs above the SMW limit(trouble making 168 after 19 months off)

              STFU and fight

it is not about wat ward wanted..its about him not being a big enough draw for hbo to respect him..he is saying hbo told him they wouldnt put him on hbo unless he moved to 175 bc they have no names at 168. and wards name alone is not good enough ratings..bt ggg's and thats just wat ward has to deal with it
haymon vs hbo strikes again..and ward is the only one taking the brunt of the hit

i dont think its unfortunate that a i didnt see a welterweight fight a middleweight...but it is unfortunate that u feel ggg can come to 154 and get a shot before ppl who have fought at the division..its especially unfortunate when that is the same kind of crap ggg fans say when lara is mentioned.."if lara wants to fight ggg at 160 he should come earn it"...why is ggg getting the privilege of just moving a division fightin for money and the lineal title? huh?

                    white privil...i wont go there
