Just because he fought in a heavier class as an amateur more than 10 years ago doesn't mean that his body stayed the same. People not only can gain muscles but they can also lose weight, getting more bony. Guess that's what happened to Ward. And he never had a very hard time to make 168 when he fought there. Froch, Kessler, Bika, Abraham... All looked bigger than him.
After competing 10 years as a smw his body needs a little time to adjust to lhw, even if it was his natural wwightclass like... when? MOre than 10 year ago?

To fight in the clinch is the part of the game, sadly very few fighters know how to do it well. Ward knows it so he has this natural advantage over many fighters.
Headbutts... You only talk about 1 or 2 fights out from his 30. Guess by the same logic I can say he built hi career on knocking out people cause he knocked out 15 out of hi 30 opponents. You're a ****** if you seriously think headbutts have anything to do with Ward's achievements.
He beat Kessler to the punch all night, with or without headbutts.

These complain about Ward tactics are really just "sour g****" complains. Anybody with a sense respect Ward's skills, resume and boxing knowledge, only sour g**** losers on internet forums like you can't admit it.
I'm gonna disagree with you on that. One of the weaknesses that people always mentioned in regards to Ward is that he's featherfisted, which is mostly true (he's accurate, but is too defensive to put his body weight into his punches). But what opponents ALWAYS found out was that weight, strength and power do not go hand in hand.

Ward's fighting style revolves around fighting out of a clinch and fighting inside. In order to do that, you NEED to be extremely, extremely strong. There's a reason why Ward bullied both Kessler and Froch around the ring. He was stronger than them.

He's also heavier. Here's a decent pic from Kessler fight:

And here's a thread discussing Froch's potential fight with Canelo, mostly besides Froch's fight night weight was in the low 170s. Froch also accepted a 164 weight clause in order to fight Martinez (stated in that thread).

So no, Ward was not smaller than his SMW opponents. He IS gonna be smaller than most LHWs though. Barrera was visibly bigger in their fight.

Then triple duck and his team said 164 for the fight.

Now ward is fighting kovalev while ggg is fighting his biggest challenge to date, his words not mine, welterweight kell brook.
Are you dense or purposely ignoring facts? Ward wasn't able to make 168 for a while now. This fight will never gonna happen at 168. Even if it would be contracted for 168, Ward would miss the weight a-la Mayweather-Marquez.

Loeffler said the email from an official of Ward’s promoter, Roc Nation Sports, extends a 50/50 purse-split offer to fight in 2016 after each fighter took one fight earlier in the year.

"It would’ve been a bad deal to take," Loeffler said.

Loeffler said the Roc Nation email was received hours after he’d already announced Golovkin’s fight with Lemieux at Madison Square Garden, with Roc Nation aware the World Boxing Council designated Golovkin (33-0, 30 knockouts) the mandatory challenger to a then-pending Miguel Cotto-Saul “Canelo” Alvarez title bout that will be fought Nov. 21. Roc Nation promotes Cotto.

What's so hard to understand that the offer for GGG would have been for a fight in the summer of 2016 which is appparently right now. When Ward himself revealed he can't make 168 for some time and struggles to make 175.
        You fell for a hoax.

No because Golovkin is better than Brook.

Think of it this way. People got bored of Floyd schooling welterweights in his own division so they wanted him to challenge himself and fight Sergio Martinez. Would Sergio Martinez have been criticized for taking that fight? No because 2 of the top 5 p4p fighters in the sport would have been going at it.

When you are the elite of the elite, fans embrace challenges. When you have unfinished business in your own division, avoid those fighters and move up 2 divisions (i.e. Khan/Canelo, Brook/GGG) then it becomes more of a bogus matchup.

However, a lot of posters on this site demand that golovkin fight ward, which would (if he beats brook) mean a 36-0 fighter stepping up two weight classes to fight a light heavyweight.
If that fight did get made, not necessarily next but in the future, would all those members of the forum criticising golovkin for fighting brook, then criticise ward for fighting the smaller man instead, especially when the weight difference between the two would likely be larger than brook compared to golovkin?
Do people think ward would deserve criticism or should he be focusing on fighting light heavyweights instead?
Doesn't matter, team g string will never, ever let a Ward/ g string fight happen. Ward moved up to fight the beast Kovalev at 175 and g string (a middleweight) is fighting the 3rd or 4th best welterweight. Who should be criticized?

Kell Brook has drained himself too from hitting in the range of 160+ on the night of the fight at welterweight and the fact he was **** in weighing 176lbs with the 30-day weigh-in limit god knows how big this guy gets!
Kell Brook Vs. GGG is a fair fight two equal sized men facing each other obviously one has the more mature muscle because of age but that will come with time for Brook.
Another distortion of the facts to fit your agenda? Face it, due to your inability to look at anything related to Andre Ward or g string, your OPINION means less than nothing.

Wards now fighting the consensus best lhwt in the world and g string is fighting the 3rd or 4th best welterweight in the world. Nothing in 5 years is still better than nothing at all.

Nope he shouldn't. Ggg is a rated as a top 3 boxer p4p and brook isn't in the top 10. Brook have no shot while I think ggg is at worst a 3/1 dog against ward. Brook does 0 things better than ggg while ggg have a few advantages over ward.

I think ggg beats everyone 168 and under and brook haven't even fight anyone in his division. I actually think ggg beats ward and a ggg ward fight or a ggg vs 175 are the only fights that intrigue me that includes him but I'll watch his other fight just to watch.
