    no power, what to do?

I have been boxing for the last few weeks and I was doing padwork for the third time today. During my last two sessions of padwork me and my coach have been working on technique. Today I was told to put as much power as possible into my punches and I have come to the sad realization that I have no speed or power. My coach said I should rethink joining the gym and to just save my money. Should I just quit? If I keep going what kind of style should I develop considering I have no speed or power?

Thanks for all feedback and advice

man if you want to box, box. power and speed aint everything, and boxing is about more than just what happens inside the ropes

If you like it, then you should keep doing it. You will get better with proper technique. A few weeks isnt enough to learn proper technique.

You can always improve technique. Just don't be sparring if your not ready. And if you do choose to spar then you should spar with someone with the same skill level or someone who is willing to work around with you.

This "coach" sounds like an ass seriously find another gym for him to come to this conclusion after a few sessions tells me he doesn't know what the **** he's talking about don't give it a second thought and find somwhere else to train

Paulie malignaggi has next to no power he was a top amateur and a top pro what he lacked in power he had good speed footwork and a good boxing mind hes not the best boxer out there but he prooves that you dont need power to be good at boxing

Paulie has power, he doesn't sit on his punches though. So he never hurts anyone.

If you don't have any power. There is nothing you can do about that. Learn to box a different way. Such as; punch -> evade -> punch -> evade.

you can work on speed, and work on the others aspects of the game. Like foot work is a big one youll be ok speed and power aint everything... ]

                  Keep on it!
