Is the Lampard appointment still good? He knows the club you know...
It always makes me laugh when people make the claim that X manager will be good because he knows the club. Like how is that a valid reason to hire someone? Forget how incompetent they are, they already know the tea lady so it will be great for the team lol
And there is an obvious reason why you would put a legend in the seat.
I barely go to games anymore but for the match going fans and the optics. That place would have been toxic saturday with someone else in the dugout. Chelsea should have lost 10 nil.
Lampard is Lampard ultimately and none of those players are worth turning on him over. I dunno what the standard is supposed to be but presumable it is to win something. A lot of those players are hard to imagine winning things in good sides even if you transplant them to better sides.
Chilwell is one currenly. James? Maybe at push but he has been so poor himself and never fit.
Most Chelsea fans will be able to see a lot of these players aren't anything to hang your hat on. They are emperor's new clothes types like Havertz or even Kovacic but you could pck out a dozen.
At this point the season is done. Players lack motivation and or quality. You could have a temp in like Lampard or you could have temp in like Potter.
It is a difficult fix. You have some talent there no heart at all or the younger ones won't be able to show it until the ground is back under Chelsea.
Gallagher has shown no quality at all this season. Talent wise I'm not sure about him at all.
But he runs around making him a better performer at the moment.
Chelsea players have a less than 1 average for the season over all the games for turning over posession - lowest in the league by miles. Now stats can mean anything but that's a good one. It means when Chelsea lose the ball which they do often they don't try and get it back. Literally nothing. They don't mind that they lost it.
I just don't believe that is coached, that is by Tuchel, Potter and now Frank.
That is either choice or lack of fitness.
Chelsea sacked their medical team and outsourced it to a private company. That could be the secret ingredient as much as poor tactics and poor players that has messed up our season.
If you want a succinct reason for why Chelsea are a poor team watch Kovacic. He's an experienced, technical player but he is playing like a rank novice. He takes too many touches, he gets caught on the ball and he misplaced lots of passes. His technique will nearly always betray him when it really matters.
I dunno - football yips possibly. Right through that squad.
Look at Koulibaly and Cucurella - how bad are those two? I'm telling you - they CAN'T be this bad.
Loads of them individually having shockers but not having the self belief to turn it around.
Not sure it is down to changes and signings either. Chelsea have done similar before. Other clubs have done similar before.
The players themselves have talent but don't have self belief, or confidence. Or on pitch leaders to get anywhere.
You can't pin it on a manager.
If Kepa (someone who Frank literally dropped and replaced) is captain imagine how little leadership or grit the rest of them must have. You can criticise that decision but sheeeshh.
Captains are chosen based on their status in the dressing room.
