I think Money May will get back in the ring with Cotto. After Cotto KO Margarito.
So in my opinion hes not finished yet as a boxer.

Toney is a great fighter with like 75 or 80 professional fights...but in my opinion he would have to become HW Champion to pass Money May...and its possible with the HW division being so washed down in talent.

Most people on here don't know enough about James Toney to appreciate him, while Mayweather is young undefeated and comes to mind easily. I would say that Mayweather is an unparalleled boxer but he ended his career too early to be rated better than Toney.

      Mayweather retired 39-0
Toney went 44-0 before he lost to RJJ and had his meltdown.

But Toney came back to win the CW belt and HW belt (too bad he got stripped of it). I'll have to see if Money comes back before I put his career over Toney's though he definately could surpass him and everyone else if he wanted.

I agree, that plus the fact that Toney fought and beat the better line of fighters. I should have told people to not post or vote if they didn't know the career of Toney. Michael Nunn was unbeaten and number 1 pound for pound when Toney beat him. Vasili Jirov was also unbeaten and was the undisputed cruiserweight champion when Toney beat him. Like Mayweather, Toney also held titles and 5different weight classes, only difference is that Toney fought the better fighters in the divisons for the titles.

"lights out" toney was and always will be a better fighter than mayweather!!!

toney has balls unlike mayweather !!!

toney has had disapointing performances, but he always comes back and proves
          he's the king!!

Floyd Mayweather, although if Toney showed the dedication throughout his career that Mayweather has shown the answer may be much different. In reality though it is Mayweather by a decent margin. Toney still is a great fighter, just to many marks against him to rank him alongside Floyd, he is more like a step behind Floyd.

I'm a big Toney fan but I would have to say FLoyd will go down as being the better of the two. Fantastic skills and accomplishments as well as a very respectable resume.

                      This.

I don't even think it's that close either. I'd vote Toney into the HOF, but I would never say he's a better fighter then Mayweather, even if he had more knockouts.
