Ward has nothing to prove anymore against anybody.

Maybe I'm missing something but I think that he's also implying that there is no reason for Ward to fight Stevenson or Kovalev (his 2 best possible opponents) because they don't have "a resume." and that Ward should just retire now?

Yeah but, by doing so he is stalling out his own career.

Does Donaire really have an ATG resume, if not, why is Rigo considered a P4P fighter then?
it's not a win that would make ward p4p number 1........again. golovkin has a very poor resume (& he's fought poor competition) thats the reason.

rigos win over donaire was actually worth a lot

(donaire had a very solid resume & was p4p number 4 on most peoples list) rigo completely dismantled him...........

you can't compare golovkins resume to donaires. (in no way shape or form)

I just don't understand what resume has to do with it, though? I mean you can just give Golovkin the eye test and see that he's a decent fighter and add to the fact that he's a top MW, a title holder and hell if he was to fight Murray next (which would be before Ward) and beat him, correct me if I'm wrong, but would he not be on most peoples P4P lists like you're saying Donaire was?

I don't think so. He's got Edwin Rodriguez, Golovkin, Carl Froch rematch and the money fight with Chavez that he obviously wants at 68.

Andre Ward literally cleaned out a division to the point where he has no opponents left. Now he's fighting the highest ranked contender that he hasn't beat yet who is another good fighter.

He'll move up when he and his team feel he's ready. There is no money at 175 and everybody there is still proving themselves so what is he really missing out on? HBO has a plan to have Kovelev fight Stevenson early next year and then the winner of that take on Pascal/Bute.

you thought wrong........(or read what you wanted to read) implying that he won't fight kovolav or stevenson? out of a article that said "ward doesn't think a win over golovkin would make him number one past mayweeather"

              ????????

how do you somehow get that ward has no reason to fight kovolev or stevenson (or even golovkin)

              ???????

I like Ward, great guy, good fighter, I don't think he is near as entertaining as say a RUSLAN PROV. but I like him.

I think all three fighters mentioned , GGG, KOV. Stevenson against WARD would DWARF all that May Jr is doing.

Outside of Pac , GGG and maybe one or two more, there are no longer any threats for JR

Ol ugly JR has smooth sailing, he will duck Pac GGG and any and all threats, he is too close to getting outa here

Don't really give a **** who Ward fights next. He's just boring and I can't stand his self-righteous attitude. Yeah he's good, but I get more excited on a Friday afternoon for an ESPN six rounder.

... That's what I'm saying since Ward won the Super Six... After that tournament he seemed so disconnected and self-sufficient...

... So: the ballroom days are over for Ward... he's in front of a critical career choice: he may step up and fight the top dogs to date, or he may face irrelevance...

Lol I'm not talking about what Ward said, I'm referring to this post:

Neither of Golovkin, Kovalev or Stevenson are as proven as Froch, Dawson or Kessler who he beat. And Edwin Rodriguez is just as good as those 3 guys being hyped.

They all have some buzz, nothing more. Neither of them have a killer resume. Stevenson has Dawson, very good win in very devastating fashion. That's about it. GG's best win is Macklin at 160. Kovalev's best win is Cleverly.

Ward is getting to that position where every single fighter with a buzz will be pushed as Ward's next nightmare. He'es basically fighting exactly who he's supposed to fight, Edwin Rodriguez. Especially how Rodriguez dispatched of Grachev in one round. This is the fight I want to see.
