Would Brook have beaten Spence if not for the headbutt that broke Brooks eye?

I thought the fight was highly competitive from the beginning. Brook might of been up a round or two but from what I remember Spence was already turning up the heat.

Spence isn't all that. Brook was a better fighter than Spence.
Brook saved them the drama by going the his knee.

He made it easier for himself and the officials.

Given the fact that both guys' heads were moving forward at the time it's not a headbutt. It's a clash of heads. Let's be clear on that.

Had it been called after the 8th round, the cards were:
        Byrd had it 77-75 Spence
        Parris had it 77-75 Brook
        Lopez had it 76-76 Even

Which means nobody was dominating. Spence won the 6th and 7th on two cards but lost them on the 3rd. It was still very competitive. I have always been impressed with Brook's style and his guts. Could he have won? Of course. Would he? Nobody knows and it's useless to say otherwise.

We're also omitting an important fact. Brook himself said the eye was damaged in the 7th. What happened in the 8th made it worse but it's quite possible that without the clash of heads it could have swelled to the same size just by Spence hitting it.

No actually Brook got lucky he didn't lose his eye.

The last time I checked boxers don't throw punches with their eye sockets.

Brook said "about" the 7th and he also said it got swollen throughout the round. It wasn't swollen in the 7th. He was headbutted at the beginning of the 8th and it swell throughout.

They don't throw them with their heads either. Spence got lucky.

Learn the difference between a headbutt and a clash of heads and then we'll talk.

Accidental head clashes are pretty common in boxing.

Unless you're saying it was intentional because I guess Spence is notorious for headbutts and excessive fouls...

I think you should take a knee on this one. Save yourself for another day.

Clear headbutt from Spence. Sorry man, your boy got lucky and wouldn't have won without.
