He's 100% right, I remember many fans pointing that out at the time. Joe Cortez allowed almost no infighting.

Same with Maidana. Go as far back as round one already Floyd started to fight him back on the inside.
People tend to intentionally overlook the fact that Maidana almost got stopped by Floyd in the first round and decided to clinch and low blow in order to save himself. This would happen two more times where Maidana saved himself from being stopped with the same clinch and low blow move that went unpunished.
Floyd is damn good on the inside, which makes you wonder why he doesn't use the inside game more often.

It's okay when it's the fighter that you want to win the fight huh?
Why didn't you mention the ref in Mayweather vs Castillo one? Holding and hitting, hitting after the bell, hitting after the break was called, holding the ropes and the waist to stop lateral movement, multiple attempted suplexes?
That was okay when Castillo and Maidana did it to Mayweather huh?

Hatton could have a chance if the ref was neutral. It took 9 rounds for floyd to beat hatton even with the help of cortez.

Hatton, immediately after the fight:
" He is very good at making you miss. He was better inside than I thought. He caught me. It was working, but I didn't quite stick to the game plan. I was a little gung ho. He wasn't the biggest welterweight I've seen, but I felt the difference. I knew what the tactics were. I wasn't quite good enough to apply it tonight. "

A lot feel that way fighting floyd, feel like they're fighting 2 people!
Hatton that beat kostya would have beat floyd in.manchester.
Floyd didn't fight the same Hatton everyone else had to.Last edited by hugh grant; 07-17-2020, 06:05 AM.
