Honestly, though, they played like crap and couldn't score for Tuchel last season, couldn't score and played like crap for Potter (oddly, they actually played slightly better last season under Potter than they did under Tuchel), couldn't score and mailed it in under Lamps because they knew he was a seat warmer gone at the end of the year. Now this season they can't score under Poch. What's the common denominator? Cuz it sure isn't managers, since they been through FOUR in the last season and a quarter with the same results.
Is banter that nearly everyone in this thread supports what is the worst Chelsea team for 30 years.

I was at work so I couldn't watch but I was pleasantly surprised to see the scoreline when I got home.
Before watching any highlights, I see your posts and I assume we have failed upwards as usual LOL. I'm going to watch the highlights after this post though.

Strikers aren't the issue either. Jackson isn't good but he was a random guy out of La Liga.He wasn't even top 5 goal scorer in the league.
Literally some random u23 kid where "football metrics" said he had expected goals ratio of Callum Wilson in La Liga, 12 goals in 26 games.
The new owners genuinely don't know what they are doing. I don't even blame strikers anymore. We can sign Haaland Jan 1 and he wouldn't score goals until he left the club.
It's something deeply rooted in the team structure where they just have no guts and it is so pervasive that even the managers lose their fortitude upon getting hired at Chelsea. The Defecator likes this.

But from day 1, Poch has been coaching like he was already in survival mode.
Can't trust Boehly to get the job right in the transfer market. All their decisions so far have been misled.
They'll buy some CB from somewhere in Europe or Brazil for 40 million euros and then relegate Badiashile to the bench permanently like they did Chalobah, while buying some other misled Striker purchase like rescuing Vlahovic from Juventus or the guy from Napoli. Then wonder why the 100m striker isn't scoring goals either.
There's not much upside or belief around this squad tbh but as long as they keep showing progress I guess, right?

I also think the fans needs to wise up to the fact that this team is rebuilding, and rebuilding from youth at that. They need to stop demanding immediate silverware because they aren't going to get it. They're building for long-term not a quick-fix.
It's simply have players with fortitude, desire, and willingness to grow. If they don't play with intent to score, 3 years down the line, they still won't have it.
Liverpool tried the same thing back when Rodgers was in. It didn't work, they dismantled the whole thing. If it weren't for Suarez it would've fell apart sooner.
Arsenal tried the same thing as well with Wenger. Same thing. Not very good, generally fell into 4th (due to a legendary manager), then dismantled the whole thing and bought guys like Ozil and Sanchez.
Chelsea is no different here. We buy randoms like Nicolas Jackson (I could be wrong maybe he becomes the next Premier League great, I don't know) but Chelsea have walked this path many times and many times it didn't pan out. Even the players didn't improve that were supposed to lead us in the transitions.
Outside of the legendary 3: Salah, De Bruyne, Lukaku. None during the "youth" development phases ever came good. (excluding Hazard)
So, for me, I'd like them to just play with heart. break the old bad habits and play like they actually have the signs of being great players.Last edited by F l i c k e r; 11-06-2023, 06:09 PM.The Defecator likes this.

I am surprised by him but if you take out all the money spent, all the expectations, a 21 year old kid who is really is a complete novice - is! - after a billion quid spent - Chelsea's best player.
Is that acceptable?
No. But here we are. He's so much better at football than most of our players and it is worth bearing in mind that Caicedo and Enzo cost ?20 million.
Roy Keane famously says that Brian Clough says football is easy- just run, pass, tackle and shoot.d
Look at that Chelsea team - how many of many can do all 4?
Hipster bulls.hit team.

Also...
I'm not saying I am better than Nicolas Jackson but what I am saying is that he is the WORST player to ever score a hattrick at this level and I would have scored 4 for Chelsea tonight.
C.unts nearly drew vs 9. Ffs
Chelsea are absolutely pony.
Fun crazy game though. I'd rather go down swinging like that than shell up and get beat anyway.
Didn't need to go down swinging though if argentines werent such dirty cunts. Romero is a proper, proper bellend.
